First Session: Getting it Right the First Time Thursday, May 1 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Join Northwest ENERGY STAR® and the MBA of King and Snohomish Counties for our introductory course outlining the critical steps to ensure each project is completed on time, every time. Learn how to use information from building performance professionals to guarantee projects are completed right the first time, reducing customer callbacks.
Second Session: Framing and Sealing Thursday, May 15 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
It is the job of the building envelope to provide durability and protect insulation. Find out the critical framing and air sealing details that deliver durability, comfort, and energy savings while at the same time reducing framing costs. Learn strategies for implementing these performance framing techniques, as well as tools for educating your sub-contractors.
Third Session: Ductwork Thursday, May 29 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Study after study nationwide shows that few duct systems are installed properly. This workshop explores the impacts of duct leakage on comfort and energy efficiency. Learn the critical details necessary for installing ductwork that provides comfort and affordability. Leave with strategies for training your HVAC installers so that you get tight ducts installed the first time.
Fourth Session: Insulation Thursday, June 12 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
A building that is properly framed allows insulation to do its job. Getting the insulation installed properly is the next step in the process. Learn about the common mistakes made during the insulation of a home and the critical insulation details that deliver thermal performance. Find out tools for training insulation installers so that these critical details are done correctly. Also learn about the different insulation types and if one type is really better than another.
Fifth Session: High Performance Lighting Thursday, June 26 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
There still remain outdated perceptions of fluorescent lighting that have created negative stereotypes around CFLs. This course will discuss the many benefits of fluorescent lighting while displacing the outdated perceptions. Additionally, there will be some exploration into the new LED lighting technologies available today. Learn about product improvements, design advancements, and end-user delivery tools that allow for the optimal selection of lighting that delivers performance and value.
