Mukilteo shorelines update out for comment
The city of Mukilteo recently released a draft Shoreline Master Program (SMP) and is accepting comments on the proposal until Friday, Sept. 24. The SMP update includes proposed changes to waterfront and shoreline development regulations. If you are currently working on or planning any upcoming projects in these areas of the city, you are encouraged to review the proposed changes. A summary of the draft can be found here. For a copy of the CD_ROM and the full update, please contact South Snohomish County Manager Jennifer Jerabek at (425) 460-8240.

GMA rule-making process underway
The proposed 2010 biennial update to the growth management rule has just been released. A preliminary draft is out, and the Washington State Department of Commerce has started the formal rule-making process. Both the proposed rule and a summary are posted here. Commerce is taking comments on the proposed rule until Thursday, Sept. 23. A public hearing is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 23 in Olympia. You can send any comments on the proposed rule to: wacupdate@commerce.wa.gov . Please contact South Snohomish County Manager Jennifer Jerabek with questions at (425) 460-8240.

County docket ordinance hearing is today
The Snohomish County Council is scheduled to hold its second and possibly final hearing on ordinance 10-022, which would change the docket process, at 1:30 p.m. today. Since the initial hearing, your association has made progress in shortening the proposed time in between "major" docket cycles. Remaining issues include our concern over making clear distinctions between major and minor docket proposals and an ill-conceived section to require simultaneous removal of land from an urban growth area (UGA) when expansions are proposed in certain circumstances. For more information, please contact South Snohomish County Manager Jennifer Jerabek at (425) 460-8240.

Reminder: King County Builders Council to meet Sept. 15
The September meeting of the King County Builders Council will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 15. The change is due to a scheduling conflict and will only be made for the September meeting. Our October meeting will take place as previously scheduled, on the second Thursday of the month, Oct. 14. Thanks for your understanding. For more information, please contact King County Manager David Hoffman at (425) 460-8224.
