This discussion uncovers how the code works and the people involved. It begins with some fun history leading up to the current International Codes and follows with an enlightening explanation of how the code is developed and adopted into law. Before applying the provisions, we must lay the foundation of how to navigate the code and how the code is administered as a minimum standard.

Glenn began his construction career in 1996, starting as a young laborer and carpenter’s apprentice and progressing to framing homes and later operating his own remodeling company. In 2005, Glenn became a building, plumbing, and mechanical inspector for the City of Westminster, Colorado. Glenn has authored over 100 technical articles and has been a code advisor to the North American Deck and Railing Association since 2011. He represented the decking industry in the 2015 and 2021 IRC code development process. He is a professional code educator and opened www.BuildingCodeCollege.com, an ICC Preferred Provider, online school.
