Snohomish County Unanimously Passes School Impact Fee Vesting Ordinance

On Wednesday, October 3, the Snohomish County Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 18-036, which allows for vesting of school impact fees at the point of complete application.

The first-of-its-kind ordinance is intended to address skyrocketing impact fee rates that have made financing and feasibility for development projects extremely problematic. Previously, the county had placed caps on fees and directed stakeholders to offer solutions to the problems caused by ever-increasing costs. In those meetings, your association brought forward vesting.

Special thanks to MBAKS Past President Lynn Eshleman, who came forward to offer the County Council compelling testimony.
