On October 11, the Stanwood City Council adopted an ordinance increasing utility fees by 22 percent. The ordinance is effective January 1, 2019. Projects are exempt if complete application has been submitted or a letter of completeness has been issued prior to January 1, 2019. View the ordinance.

Last year, the City Council directed city staff to assess necessary utility capital improvements: water, sewer, drainage, and complete a supporting fee study. At the June 21, 2018 council meeting, staff presented the requested information, including proposed rate increases for current rate payers, future development fees, and utilization of grant funding for a major portion of a $13 million planned drainage improvement.

Your association previously met with city staff to better understand infrastructure needs and associated costs. We will continue to work diligently to improve understanding of the cost of development.
