The Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) recently took a deeper look at “missing middle” housing and concluded that townhomes and lower-density multifamily housing are often more affordable than single family homes or high-rise condos.

They recognize that these types of homes represent an opportunity for first-time home buyers and others looking to buy homes at more affordable prices and, most importantly, that zoning in the region that supports this “middle” category is scarce. Through your association’s seat on PSRC’s Growth Management Policy Board, we’ve been advocating for a variety of housing types for people of all walks of life, including this “middle” segment.

It’s gratifying to see that they’re listening and responding to our advocacy by taking a closer look at what policies could be amended to respond to diverse needs. Learn more.
