Bellevue Hearing Examiner Gives Thumbs Up to Energize Eastside

Bellevue’s Hearing Examiner has approved a conditional use permit for the south Bellevue portion of Puget Sound Energy’s (PSE) Energize Eastside project. The action marks a major milestone in a years-long effort to build a new substation and upgrade existing transmission lines to what PSE considers the “backbone” of its Eastside electric grid.

The project will use the existing transmission line corridor that has served the area for nearly 100 years. By using the existing corridor, impacts to communities and the environment are limited. Combined with continued electric conservation, the project will keep the lights on for the Eastside’s growing communities for years to come. Read the Hearing Examiner’s decision.
