Kenmore City Council is discussing an update to its park impact fee rate study. The city hired an outside consultant to analyze state statutes and update the methodology used to calculate the park impact fee (PIF) rates. This practice had not been done since 2001.

The study resulted in a maximum rate of $6,663 as allowed by law. This is substantially higher than rates found in nearby cities. As a result, staff is proposing a 44% reduction to the maximum allowable rate. This would result in a fee of $3,885 per single family and $2,980 for multifamily (this includes townhomes). The proposed fee increases would not go into effect until Jan. 1, 2020.

This issue will return to city council in July for a public hearing and adoption. View the PowerPoint presentation explaining the methodology and the results of the rate study.
