The King County Department of Local Services, Permitting Division, has released a draft of the proposed ordinance related to the collection of school impact fees. See the chart below for 2020 fees based on the school districts’ updated capital facilities plans. Once the draft is finalized, it will be transmitted to the King County Council in October for review and possible adoption later this year as part of the King County Mid-Biennial Budget review.

The adopted fees will apply to development in unincorporated King County, effective Jan. 1, 2020. The strike-through number is the current fee. Each jurisdiction within the County will need to take action to implement the updated fee. Keep in mind not all jurisdictions update annually, some are on two-year cycles. Permitting is accepting public comments through Friday, August 9, 2019 on the draft proposal. You may submit comments via email to permittinglegislation@kingcounty.gov.
