The State Building Code Council’s (SBCC) final public hearing on the Washington State Energy Code (WSEC-Residential) and other pending code updates took place on Friday, September 27, which was also the final day of the comment period.

Several MBAKS members, including Past President Zak Parpia, representatives of Terrene Homes and DR Horton, and other builders, testified on some of the larger energy code issues that would represent significant cost increases on new housing. MBAKS also weighed in with a comment letter relaying our strong concerns with the proposed number of energy efficiency points required for all residential units. Thanks to all those who took time to testify or submit written comments.
