Bellevue Considering Development Services Fee Update for 2020

The Bellevue City Council was recently introduced to the proposed annual permit fee adjustments for 2020. This follows the completion of the annual cost of service study. The rate adjustments generally track normal inflation, with hourly rates increasing by 2.4% to 2.8%, depending on the discipline (utilities, fire, transportation, etc.) The project value-based building permit fees will be adjusted by 1.7%.

There is also an adjustment to flat-rate fees for small-scale, high-volume permits that are passed on the three-year average of time spent in review and inspection. The total permit fees paid for some projects will go down depending on how these factors, along with process improvements, impact staff time needed to complete the work. Review the proposed changes in more detail on the City Council Agenda.
