The King County Council’s Mobility and Environment Committee has received its second briefing on the Executive’s proposed 2020 update to the King County Comprehensive Plan (Proposed Ordinance 2019-0413).

The committee received a high-level overview of the proposal and identified areas where they would like to take a deeper dive. MBAKS previously expressed interest to King County staff and Council to further consider amendments to the County’s cottage housing and ADU codes. Both were identified by the Council as areas of interest and will be pulled out for further discussion.

This was the second of 16 scheduled briefings in committee. It’s expected to be moved out of committee to the full council in March. Written comments on the proposed plan are welcome at any time during the review and can be submitted electronically by emailing

For a written staff report or additional information on the comprehensive plan, visit the Council’s Comprehensive Plan website. Final adoption is scheduled for June 2020.
