This week, MBAKS connected with Bellevue staff via Skype to discuss the status of the Affordable Housing Strategy and how we are prepared and will work together for reentry into construction. The Affordable Housing Strategy will include code amendments to allow for a fee simple overlay for townhome development, remove the three-year wait for attached accessory dwelling units, and change minimum parking requirements.

Staff is completing the proposal; we can expect a draft to review in the next couple weeks. Currently, the City Council is limited to necessary and routine agenda items due to the Open Public Meetings Act and public hearing/notice requirements, so we are unsure when it may be introduced. However, staff is committed to advancing this package and we can expect it to be calendared when restrictions are lifted.

Help us build a sound future.
