On April 20, the Edmonds City Council adopted an ordinance extending all building and development permits by 120 days. Unlike Snohomish County’s emergency ordinance, no further public hearings are needed. The new law applies to permits granted before Governor Inslee’s Stay Home, Stay Safe Order. Edmonds and Snohomish County join a growing list of jurisdictions to adopt permit extensions, including Lake Stevens, Bothell, and Lynnwood. Other cities are in the process of writing the code or have determined to grant extensions on a case-by-case basis.
