The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) has adopted changes (CR-103) to the state’s electrical rules that will amend new safety codes, update and clarify existing rules, and make housekeeping and other rule changes. The changes affect “chapter 296-46B WAC Electrical Safety Standards, Administration, and Installation.”

The new rules were adopted on May 19, with an effective date of July 1. Due to the evolving coronavirus outbreak, L&I will move the effective date of the new rules and the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC) to October 29, 2020. Review the new rules.
