The State Building Code Council (SBCC) has voted to delay the effective date of the new building code until February 1, 2021. The delay of the new building code includes the energy code. Previously the code had been pushed back until November 1, 2020; this additional delay will give the building industry much-needed time to get up to speed on the new rules and regulations.

Diane Glenn, MBAKS member and SBCC Chair, was instrumental in this action. Thank you to members Joe Herr with Terrene Homes and Todd Levitt with Murray Franklyn for testifying on this issue.
