At the Redmond City Council meeting on Tuesday June 7, MBAKS was able to delay adoption of proposed amendments to the Tree Regulations in Redmond’s Zoning Code. During the meeting, the Council voted unanimously to pull the amendments from the consent agenda for further deliberation and send them to the Parks and Environmental Sustainability Committee, which next meets on Tuesday June 28. Councilmember David Carson made the motion on the grounds that the Council believed there were potential deficiencies in the code requiring further discussion. MBAKS will continue to stay involved and advocate for a more flexible code that serves both the City’s tree canopy and housing goals. Thank you to all members who signed on to the letter to the City Council and to those who responded to the call to action and emailed Council directly.
