This week, the Everett City Council held a public hearing on and approved proposed growth alternatives to study for the city’s 2044 Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update (Everett 2044). The city council approved moving to Phase III which includes technical and environmental analysis to evaluate impacts of growth alternative components in preparation for developing a preferred alternative to move forward in the update process. The growth alternatives include 1) Current Plans Extended, 2) Concentrated Growth (more TOD), and 3) Dispersed Growth (more middle housing). There was significant discussion on design standards and the desire to implement them going forward but not at this time. The city will likely have a blend of alternatives 2 and 3.
