Bellevue recently voted to confirm the
preferred alternative for their Periodic Comp Plan Update representing a new combination of growth elements for additional study in the final environmental impact statement. While the selected alternative will increase the city’s capacity for housing, the council appears split between exploring higher density and maintaining single family neighborhoods. As a hybrid between alternatives, the preferred alternative will look to study lower density in some areas east of Eastrail than what Alternative #3 proposed and focus more on residential opportunities like Alternative #2. A draft of the final EIS should be released in late September or October. MBAKS will continue monitoring the issue and advocating for more housing choices. The overall timeline for the Comp Plan process can be found
