On Wednesday, Jan. 8, MBAKS testified at Renton City Hall in front of the hearing examiner regarding Energize Eastside’s conditional use permit for the Renton portion of the project. The Energize Eastside project is Puget Sound Energy’s plan to upgrade 16 miles of transmission line from Renton to Redmond. This backbone of the electric grid hasn’t had a major upgrade since the 1960s.

MBAKS is a steering committee member of CURE (Communities United for Reliable Energy) and testified support of the permit. The hearing examiner will make their decision within 20 days. Read Renton city staff’s report on the project.
