The Energize Eastside project, Puget Sound Energy’s plan to upgrade 16 miles of transmission line from Renton to Redmond, is progressing in several locations throughout King County. The Richards Creek substation work is on track in Bellevue. The Renton permit for the project has been approved and no appeals were received. PSE staff continues to work with the city of Newcastle staff for that portion of the project.

The transmission line being updated is the backbone of the electric grid and has not had a major upgrade since the 1960s. MBAKS is a steering committee member of CURE (Communities United for Reliable Energy).
