MBAKS made a push to delay a vote at the Seattle City Council on a bill that contains a new Street Use Fee Schedule. MBAKS submitted a letter in opposition to the fee, as it unfairly targets development downtown and in the urban core. The fees will increase over 50% in some cases. Smaller infill and townhome builders will be less affected by the fee increase. The letter was sent to each City Councilmember and to SDOT Director Sam Zimbabwe. MBAKS also testified in opposition to the bill during the public comment portion of the Council Meeting.

Unfortunately, the fees were included in a bill that also waived fees for restaurants and small businesses to operate on the sidewalk during COVID, which was strongly supported by Council, the Mayor, and the public; therefore, the bill passed unanimously.
