This week, the Kent City Council adopted a park impact fee of $3,282 per single family dwelling unit and $2,451 per multi-family dwelling unit. MBAKS and interested members met with city staff as the ordinance was being developed to identify additional steps the city could take to offset the new cost. In response, the adopted ordinance includes amendments to increase the threshold for subdivision projects that are required to construct on-site recreation facilities to 20 lots and decreasing the amount of recreation space required per lot. It also amends the provisions for fee-in-lieu and clarifies when the option is appropriate. The park impact fee will take effect in mid-April. See Ordinance No. 4398 – Park Impact Fees.
