On Thursday, March 14, the Tukwila Council held a public hearing on goals and policies for all elements of the 2024 Comprehensive Plan update. The Land Use, Economic Development, and Community Character Elements all retained policies from the Planning Commissions that were supported by MBAKS, including:

• Expands permitted uses in the Community Residential Zone to include middle housing types;
• Encourages redevelopment of non-conforming, small, and irregularly shaped districts that cannot be redeveloped now; and
• Eliminates “design choices” language to comply with state law.
